Angelo Villari - Guglielmo Ratcliff

Born in Messina, Angelo Villari graduated in singing from the A. Boito conservatoire in Parma. In the past seasons he sang: Cavalleria Rusticana in Lecce, Pagliacci in Malta, Attila (Foresto) in Rovereto; Il Trovatore at the Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo; Madama Butterfly in Lübeck and in Bari; La Traviata in Malta; the main role in Ennio Porrino’s I Shardana at the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari; conducted by Anthony Bramall in a new production by Davide Livermore (just issued in DVD by Dynamic). He starred in Casella’s La donna serpente, singing the main tenor role under Fabio Luisi for the opening of the Martina Franca Festival. Mr. Villari recently sang Maurizio in Adriana Lecouvreur in Como, Pavia and Cremona; Madama Butterfly at the Teatro Regio in Parma and with the Rome Opera at the Terme in Caracalla. Plans include: Madama Butterfly in Palermo and Alfano’s La Leggenda di Sakundala in Catania.

Operalia Prize winner Mariangela Sicilia is one of the most exciting Italian young sopranos; she has been seen, in the past seasons, in Massenet’s Cléopâtre at the Salzburg Festival; Il Viaggio a Reims, La Donna del Lago (Zedda conducting), L'Italiana in Algeri and L’Inganno Felice at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro; Cilea’s L'Arlesiana at the Wexford Festival Opera and in Jesi; Rigoletto in Bari. Ms. Sicilia recently performed L’Elisir d’Amore in Madrid and in Monte Carlo; in Paris she performed in La Pietra del Paragone with Jean-Christophe Spinosi at the Théâtre du Châtelet and La Bohème (Musetta) under Mark Elder and Adriana Lecouvreur under Daniel Oren at the Paris Opera. She also sang: Petite Messe Solennelle in Saint-Etienne under Zedda; Guillaume Tell at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna, (c. Mariotti; d. Vick); Orphée et Eurydice and La Bohème in Palermo; Verdi’s Quattro Pezzi Sacri (Concertgebouw) and new production of Benvenuto Cellini (Térésa) at the Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam, directed by Terry Gilliam and conducted by Mark Elder in Amsterdam. Future plans include: Fauré’s Requiem at the Opera in Florence; La Scala di Seta and Mozart’s Requiem in Liège under Paolo Arrivabeni; Turandot (Liù) in Montpellier; Petite Messe Solennelle in Palermo and in Amsterdam at the Concertgebouw; Carmen at the Teatro Regio in Turin; Don Giovanni (Donna Anna) with the Opéra de Lyon at the Royal Opera House in Muscat; Mozart’s Requiem in Parma and Piacenza with the Toscanini Orchestra.

Annunziata Vestri - Margherita

Winner of “Lauri Volpi”, “Maria Caniglia” and Rosertum Lyric Contests, Mrs Vestri made her debut in 2003 as Suzuki in Madama Butterfly. An eclectic artist with bold acting qualities, she can boast a huge repertoire that spans from Bel Canto to Verdi and Puccini’s masterpieces. Mrs. Vestri regularly collaborates with theaters as: Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, Teatro Regio in Turin, Maggio Musicale in Florence, Teatro Comunale in Bologna, San Carlo in Naples, Opéra de Montecarlo, Teatro Regio in Parma, Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago, Sferisterio Opera Festival in Macerata, Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto. Amongst her recent engagements: Donizetti’s Belisario and Torquato Tasso at the Bergamo Musica Festival; Cilea’s L’Arlesiana at the Wexford Festival and in Jesi; La Clemenza di Tito in Trieste; Rigoletto in Naples; Carmen in Livorno, Lucca and Genoa; Il Trovatore in Schenkenberg; La Traviata in Bari; Madama Butterfly in Kiel, Florence and Bari; Andrea Chénier (Madelon) in Naples; Aida (Amneris) in St. Margarethen and in Kazan; Falstaff in Marseille. Mrs. Vestri made her film debut performing as Tisbe in La Cenerentola for the Opera movie directed by Carlo Verdone, conducted by Gelmetti and produced by Rada Film.

Plans include: Carmen, Suor Angelica and Falstaff at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples; Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Monte Carlo; La Cenerentola at the Rome Opera and at the Massimo in Palermo.

Gianluca Buratto - Mac Gregor

A noble and round voice, Gianluca Buratto is rapidly establishing himself as one of his most versatile basses of his generation. His recent engagements include: Bach’s B minor Mass with Savall in Madrid and Barcelona, both Mozart and Jommelli’s Betulia liberata with Muti in Salzburg and Ravenna and in Wroclaw under Rovaris; Mercadante’s Virginia at the Wexford Festival Opera; Mozart’s Mass in C minor KV 427 at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome with Nagano; Bach’s Johannes-Passion with Lopez-Banzo in Spain and Germany; Macbeth with Muti at the Salzburg Festival, Rome and Chicago; Solbiati’s La Leggenda in Turin with Noseda; Le Nozze di Figaro in Barcelona with Rousset; L’Incoronazione di Poppea (Seneca) at the Innsbruck Festival; La Bohème (with Chailly) and I Due Foscari in Valencia; Macbeth at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan; Rota’s Mysterium at the Vatican City, in Naples, Bari and in Milan (concert and recording) with La Verdi Orchestra; Rigoletto in Genoa under Luisi and in Bogotà; Handel’s Rinaldo and Admeto at the Theater an der Wien; Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo with Rousset and Les Talens Lyriques in Nancy and Paris; La Bohème in Rome and in Amsterdam; I Puritani in Florence; Rigoletto at the Sferisterio Opera Festival in Macerata; Le Duc d’Albe in London for Opera Rara; La Bohème in Palermo; Verdi’s Requiem in Manchester under Mark Elder. He had just starred in Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo and Vespers on US tour and at the Wigmore Hall in London with the Monteverdi Choir and the English Baroque Soloists, under the baton of Sir John Eliot Gardiner. Plans include: revivals of Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo with the Monteverdi Choir and John Eliot Gardiner in Versailles; Die Zauberflöte in Liège under Paolo Arrivabeni; I Due Foscari in Amsterdam; Faccio’s Amleto and Turandot at the Bregenzer Festspiele; Semiramide in London for Opera Rara; Turandot in Montpellier; Berlioz’s Roméo et Juliette in Beirut. In 2016 he will have his first solo recital at the Wigmore Hall in London.

Francesco Cilluffo - conductor

Conductor and composer, he graduated from the Turin Conservatoire, the Guildhall School of Music and the King’s College in London. Among his most notable appearances as conductor: Zemlinsky’s Der König Kandaules in Palermo; concerts with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Santiago (Chile); Mozart’s Requiem (Levin edition), Duruflé’s Requiem op. 9 and Shostakovich’s Symphony no. 14 with the Orchestra Filarmonica di Torino; concerts tour with the ORT-Orchestra della Toscana; Cilea’s L’Arlesiana for the opening of the 2013-2014 season of Teatro Pergolesi in Jesi (just released in CD and DVD for Dynamic); Verdi Galas at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow and at the Verdi Festival in Parma; Cavalleria rusticana in Sassari; Tancredi for the Circuito Lirico Lombardo (Pavia, Cremona, Como and Brescia), featuring the Orchestra I Pomeriggi Musicali; La cambiale di matrimonio at the Teatro Regio in Parma; Il barbiere di Siviglia in Genoa; Wolf-Ferrari’s Il Campiello at the Opera di Firenze-Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste; L’elisir d’amore at the Regio in Parma, at the Comunale in Modena and with the New Israeli Opera; Tutino’s Le Braci (world première) at the Martina Franca Festival; Nabucco in Kiel. Plans: a revival of Le Braci at the Opera di Firenze-Maggio Musicale Fiorentino; a new production of Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette at the New Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv; La Traviata at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie in Liège and in Charleroi; a concert with the Toscanini Orchestra in Parma.
